So Close Movie Review

Hello, this is Valkor. And I'd like to welcome you to TOV's "30 in 30," where I'll evaluate 30 distinct films over the course of 30 days, as well as possibly some less distinct ones. The majority of the movies are cool because I don't know anything about them. So, not just for you guys but also for me, this should be a tremendous delight. This is going to be a wonderful month, good or terrible. Everything begins today, July 4th, and ends on August 3rd. Can I get through this? We'll find out asap!

The next film on my list is "Chik yeung tin si," also known as "So Close," a Hong Kong action movie with Shu Qi playing Lynn, an assassin for hire, and directed by Corey Yuen. Utilizing their father's creation, the "World Panorama," which connects to any camera using a satellite uplink, as well as other cutting-edge technology at their disposal, she works with her sister Sue (Zhao Wei), who manages the command post. Takedown of I.C.C.W.'s owner, Chow Liu, is their first task. They were the ones that conned everyone at I.C.C.W into believing the company's computers were infected by a virus before being rescued by a figure known as "The Computer Angel," therefore they accomplished their goal rather successfully. Chow Liu is easily defeated by Lin. Officer Hung, a new officer in the force, is introduced (Karen Mok). She makes it her mission to identify the "Computer Angel" and capture her. In the end, the men who hired Lynn and Sue have flipped the script, and the hunters are now the prey. When Lynn eats it near the end, Hung is identified as the murderer. However, sister Sue is aware of the perpetrator, and together with Hung, they work to clear Hung's identity as well as exact revenge.

The friendship between Yen (Song Seung Hun) and Lynn, the following contracted hit, and the events leading up to Lynn's passing are only a few of the details I omitted from the account. And there's a good reason for it—to explain why, let's just say that it gives the impression that the movie doesn't make much sense. And to be honest, a lot of the events depicted in the movie don't make a lot of sense, but we'll get to that in the review's main body. In relation to that,

The Good:

This is a stronger action movie in my opinion than "The Korean," and it features HOT action. Three of the sexiest main actresses in Hong Kong grab the spotlight and not only deliver outstanding performance but also some sexy movements to match their good looks. Have I cracked a nut? And I did. Will I rewatch the movie, but only certain parts? Oh yes! Shu Qi, the lovely girl from Transporter 2, demonstrates that she has talent to go along with her attractive appearance. Karen Mok, who smokes cigars and is extremely humorous in addition to being tough and kicking a lot of ass, also won me over. But Zhao Wei surely gets a higher rating from me than Shu Qi? She's basically the kind of gal who you might not first think much of but with time looks better and better, so you simply have to take attention. Definitely, because she's just so darn cute and innocent. Although jerky, the tale is nevertheless bearable. There is a lot of wire-fu and CGI to help the sequences look better, and the action is really intense. However, you won't notice since you'll be too busy laughing and exclaiming at how attractive these three ladies are.

The Bad:

The length, which is about two hours, is my first issue (1 hr 50 min to be exact). I felt as though I had been watching it for two hours after roughly an hour. Another issue is the pacing; there is too much filler and not enough of the necessary material is presented. For starters, the romance between Yen and Lynn might have been completely dropped because it wasn't necessary. Why not concentrate on how Lynn and Sue became hired killers if we're going to focus on anything at all? Yes, far later in the novel, we get a small taste of it, but come on!

The Ugly:

My brain is stuck with the annoying tune "Close To You," and it keeps me awake at night.

I STRONGLY advise "So Close" if you want hot, sensual, smokin' women mixed in with your action movie. Even though it has flaws, it's still well worth viewing, and it also makes a terrific movie for the guys to watch when they come over. I rate "So Close" with 3.5 TOV stars out of 5; it has also passed Valkor testing and received TOV approval.
